“RMS is clearly the most rewarding and meaningful project we have undertaken on behalf of our Soldiers in my 32 years of service. The professional detail and presentation captures not only the historical facts of a unit's mobilization; but also the emotional context of this seminal event in a service-members career. It will certainly be handed down as a family heirloom and cherished by all those who have served so proudly.”
COL Alfred C. Faber
Chief of Staff
Ohio Army National Guard
“With the elimination of history detachments in the U.S. Military in recent years, Remember My Service fills an important niche in the documentation and preservation of our Servicemembers' legacy. Without RMS, much of the story of this historic time would go untold."
LTC Hank McIntire
Command Public Affairs Officer
"I'm very glad to have it. It overwhelms me. It's such an honor to be able to do this for especially the soldiers who didn't get recognized for their heritage and now I get to be recognized for it. I take part in it whole heartedly. I love it. This is my legacy. I don't know much about my father and grandfather, but my grandchildren and children will know a lot about me.”
Staff Sergeant Dennis Boorman
NCO of the Year
“It helps me understand what kind of soldier I am and what kind of soldier I can be. It kind of shows me my potential. Its amazing because it helps me know that I'm doing my part in what I'm supposed to be doing, in the military.”
Specialist Guy Mellor
Soldier of the Year
“The historical record of what we've done in the national guard is awesome. To have that captured for us so we can keep it forever is a wonderful opportunity There's no way to really explain the difference between trying to verbalize your memories then have them on camera.
Its something I can show to my wife and my kids and I can say this is how it really was. Its a wonderful opportunity to explain what we do to people who don't have that opportunity. We have the finest soldiers and airmen in the United States here in the Utah National Guard there's none finer. And we prove it every day in Afghanistan and Iraq.”
Brigadier General Scott Harrison
Utah Air National Guard
"One of the most profound experiences of my life has been to look at the pictures and read the anecdotes of the historical record of my service experiences that you prepared. I now have a record of who I served with, and a full account of what I saw and experienced. This is a legacy that I will share with my children and grandchildren to further reinforce the great sacrifices and accomplishments that I saw in defense of our American way of life. It is remarkable. Thank you!”
Peter S. Cooke
Major General, Army Reserve
“As an OEF/OIF veteran from the 244th EN BN, 96th RRC, I was the NCOIC for one of the first Remember My Service projects. I had no idea how much of a therapeutic experience it would turn out to be for my team and I. I was blown away at how much it helped us process our experiences overseas. At the time I was grief stricken over losing two of our comrades to suicide.
I felt that if when we returned they could have undergone this experience that I literally stumbled upon, that perhaps they would not have been lost.
I fully believe in the potential of this project to help Service Members process their experiences, an aspect of post-deployment that I have seen as being so critical in the healing process that it can save lives. Even when Service members are not deployed OCONUS, they undergo many experiences that families often do not understand. This is evident in the high divorce rate among our Service Members, a statistic that I am committed to being part of a solution for, in any way possible.
As has been the first-hand experience for myself and for the members of my team, RMS has proven to be a useful resource in the post-deployment process for commanders, chaplains, retention personnel and team leaders, helping reunite team members and fostering the processing of experiences through visual and sensory therapy and discussion. I have also been told by several commanders that working on their RMS interactive historical records helped bring the families, friends and communities of their unit members together by providing them with a multi-media outlet with which to share their experiences with each other. This helped promote understanding of -and support for- their Service members. I cannot think of a better reward for the many sacrifices of these brave men and women!
In summary, I see RMS as a strategic communication tool for both civic and military leadership teams, which also provides a variety of benefits -both direct and indirect- for Service members and their families.”

“It validates that experience. It really is a customized tool that captures the mission, the experience for not just the soldier but also the family member. And it is a wonderful gift back, a thank you from the army for answering the call to duty.”
Colonel Adele Connell
“Thank you for the copy of the 96th RRC Historical Record. Many Soldiers spend twenty years or more in service to the country and have few tangible memories of those years. It is wonderful to be able to have a DVD to see the ways in which our service impacts the units we are a part of. It's also just a great trip down memory lane to see people that you may not have a chance to work beside again. It also gives me a chance to show my kids where daddy goes and what he does for the Army.”
CPT Paul Turnbow
“It has been beneficial to me to be able to review the history of the 96th from 1918 to the present. It is always good to know where we have been in order to look towards the future. This historical DVD reminds me how proud I am to have served in the 96th and in the Army Reserve. It is also a remembrance to my service and the friends I have made with my fellow soldiers in the 96th.”

"In my 30 years of being a medical doctor, I have never come across a project as exciting and potentially therapeutic as Remember My Service! This project has the potential not only to save a great many lives by the prevention of suicide, but to also improve the quality of the lives of our active duty and veteran soldiers."

“This is just such a small piece to say thank you. Our military men and women do such a fantastic job. The sacrifice of the families is unbelievable. We just want to be able to say thank you in some small token. I know this is small but we're glad to be a part of it. They've been really appreciative of what it means to all their officers and enlisted servicemembers.”
“Without a doubt the best loyalty-building practice between a client or member in our case, is built upon an emotional connection of some kind. This Remember My Service project is the epitome of emotion. To be able to be a part of collecting a personal history of service to this great nation and then making it available to our men and women that are on the front line of defense is an opportunity for emotion on our part and that of our Military credit union members that serve. You can’t build an emotional connection stronger than that. This project is unsurpassed as a way to bring us and these members together- and express our gratitude to them- in a most emotionally-connected way.”
