RMS January Update: 22 Wives and Daughters of Fallen Heroes to become “honorary” Miss Americas on Jan 29
Message from Remember My Service President, Sharlene Hawkes
Next week, 22 wives and daughters of fallen Heroes are flying into Las Vegas courtesy of American Airlines, checking into courtesy rooms at Planet Hollywood, being greeted as Donny and Marie’s guests at their show, and culminating the royal weekend as VIP guests at the Miss America Finals January 30th. RMS is so honored to participate in this event to remember not only the service, but most importantly, the ultimate sacrifice of these courageous ladies. As a former Miss America, I have asked the other “formers” to assist me in presenting each of these women with a special “crown” pin (provided by Ann Hand jewelry right there in Washington DC) to underscore the fact that they are the real Miss Americas. This is a surprise, so don’t broadcast this news to them—I just thought it might of interest to you. We are so pleased to be working with TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) and Got Your Back—they identified these candidates based on all the great work they do for these families year-round, and it is my hope that we can do this again next year, thanks to the huge generosity of all the sponsors.

We would like to welcome two new additions to our team, and we hope you get to work with them soon—we are incredibly lucky to have them both! Elayne Harmer is our new Sr. Marketing Executive based in the San Francisco area (where she graduated from Stanford by the way) and Scott Payne is the new Customer Relations Manager (who recently received his BA degree in International Business). Given that Elayne speaks fluent Spanish, and Scott speaks fluent Portuguese, you might think that we’re planning an international expansion in the near future….hmm…now there’s an idea...
Sharlene has been asked to make a presentation at the National Guard Resiliency Conference in Washington DC on Feb. 5
Both Sharlene and Elayne will be in DC Feb 9-12, and are delighted to be able to spend at least one full day (the 10th) with the great Reservists at ROA for their Winter Conference.
RMS has just partnered with the American National Heritage Center, which honors the men and women of our country's armed forces with an individualized American Coat-of-Arms showcasing their heritage, service and virtues: www.anhc-usa.org and use the Source Code 020051.
